Milestone-Based Capital and How Escrow Protects Both Sides

Capital released only when milestones are verified. Founders stay accountable; investors stay protected.

Most early-stage capital moves in a single transfer at signature. From that moment the investor's only lever is conversation, and the founder carries the full weight of expectations set months earlier.

Tranches Instead of Lump Sums

Milestone escrow splits a round into tranches tied to commitments both sides agreed in the deal room. Capital sits in an audited smart contract on an EVM-compatible network. Each tranche releases when its milestone is verified.

Who Can Release Funds

Nobody alone. A release requires two of three signatures from the founder, the investor and an assigned expert verifier. FounderGrade does not hold custody of escrowed funds and cannot move them unilaterally.

What Verification Means

  • The founder submits evidence against the milestone as written
  • An assigned expert reviews the evidence and records a verification decision
  • Signatures are collected on-chain and the tranche releases
  • A contested verification routes to built-in arbitration before any release

Why On-Chain Escrow

Sub-second finality and negligible transaction cost, so a release is not something either side has to plan a day around. Every deposit, release and refund is visible on-chain.

There is no spread, no interest and no carry taken on capital held in escrow.
